| A BIT DEEPER... | |
| Birthplace: | Charlottesville, Virginia. Yes, that is the same place as now. Yes, that is where the Univ. of Virginia is. And YES, I was born, have lived, go to school, and still am in one place. |
| Status: | Single, contrary to what most everyone always thinks. Don't ask me why people never think I'm single. Am I looking or not? Who knows, I'm always doing one or the other... Is there someone I'm looking at? Maybe so. |
| Future Aspirations: | I really don't know. I'm planning on taking the MCATs in April so I guess medical school is an option. But it's all still up in the air, so who knows if I'll end up as a journalist, a web/graphics designer, an M.D., a researcher... or [insert random job here]. Either way, my major won't have anything to do with it! |
| Political affiliation: | Politics? What's politics? I have no knowledge about or interest in politics. I apologize to all you Asian activists... I love what you guys are doing, but I just don't form opinions and can't really get myself to care about this whole politics thing. |
| Religious affiliation: | Buddhism, but I'm not that religious at all. I do believe though, I'm just not strongly tied to a specific religion. To tell you the truth, I think they are all conceptually the same, for the most part. |
| Sports: | I am a die-hard sports fanatic. I love to follow sports, esp. college basketball, and would rather watch sports than almost anything else. I also love to engage in endless arguments about sports... OH, you meant me playing sports... um, I played varsity tennis in high school and ran cross country and track. These days, however, I am mostly just watching sports. I try to make the gym every once in awhile and sometimes play tennis or swim. |
| The Arts: | I took piano lessons from the age of five through my first year in college. I still play, but obviously time is a factor. I'm also teaching myself the guitar and am faring not too badly. As far as musical taste, I listen to mostly everything minus Britney and country. I love bands... like Guster. I am also into web and graphics design and like to write. |
| Hobbies & Activities: | I have a long list of things I like to do, but probablity-wise you can probably sum up most things I do into just few words - school, akdphi, computer, sports, Garfield. I go to class and do work, I do stuff with my sorority, I chat and do design stuff on the computer, I follow sports, and I sleep (my pillow is Garfield). |
| Random: | I love to scuba dive. I love to swing dance. I love the outdoors. I love to hike. I love camping. I love taking pictures. I love to dance dance dance. I love to sing but suck. I love ultimate but suck. (I love a lot of things but suck.) |
| Ideal Guy: | The problem with this whole notion is that there is no ideal guy for me. Like I can't just spit out all these wonderful characteristics and that'll be him standing right there, you know? I feel like I don't have this specific guy in my head, but rather a feeling. It's more of someone who can push my buttons... you know, whoever floats my boat. If you wanna be him, I'd say good luck, 'cause I don't even know where those buttons or paddles are... |
FAVORITES... | |
| Day: | Friday. Thank god it's the end of the week. |
| Month: | March. Take a wild guess. |
| Place: | My bed. Or in front of my computer. |
| Color: | Blue, the dark metallic kind with a tint of purple. |
| Magazine: | Sports Illustrated, SLAM! Sometimes I read Readers Digest. I hate fashion magazines. |
| Book: | I guess those Harry Potter books, considering they are the only ones I've read (within a span of three days, mind you) since high school. I do vaguely remember liking a lot of books I read in HS, though. |
| TV channel: | I only get one channel at home (that would be NBC), but if I had the choice... ESPN, ESPN2, etc, HTS, Comcast, FSN, or any channel w/ a sporting event on, for that matter. |
| Movies: | Sorry, I can't pick just one. Haven't watched enough!... Gladiator, Magnolia, American Beauty, la Vita Eta Bella, Shrek, Mulan, Mighty Ducks series |
| Music: | GUSTER, Pat Mcgee, Tonic |
| Composers: | Frederic Chopin, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner |
| Food: | Anything edible |
IDIOSYNCRACIES & PET PEEVES... | |
| I'm a guy | A lot of people have said I'm a guy in a girl's body. I don't know if I should agree or not. I mean, I'm obviously a girl (I can cry, I take care of my face, I have lots of clothes and shoes, I like boys, etc.) but I tend to get along much better with guys (I feel more comfortable hanging with a group of dudes). A lot of it is the sports thing, but part of it is also the fact that I'm really "chill" (what people have said) and really laid back. I tend to not stress out or care much and just go with the flow. "Whatever" and "I don't care" are my most-used phrases. In addition, I don't pick up on girly things that my girl friends expect me to pick up on in situations. Don't ask me what, I wouldn't know. What sets me apart from actually being a guy is the whole gaming thing. Yes, I'm a weird breed. |
| Read the damn website | You know what REALLY BOTHERS ME. People IM you or what not and intro the conversation with something like "You have a really nice website/profile" but then proceed to ask stuff like "Where are you" "What year are you" "What do you like" etc etc... stuff that is so blatantly obvious if they had actually read what was on the website/pages. Now I'm not expecting everyone to read everything, but I'm talking about stuff that's like on the very front of these things that screams out at you. It just doesn't give a great impression, because I'd hope that if you go to my website and then proceed to actually TALK to me you would've at least read/skimmed stuff. I don't want to have conversations w/ people about basic facts about myself. |
| Terrible & selective memory | I have extremely, extremely poor memory. It's hard for me to conciously remember stuff dealing with things like school work, things to do, what I've done, etc. Apparently the LTP processes in the hippocampus of my brain aren't functionining normally. So if I don't remember talking to you, don't be alarmed. On the flip side, there are certain, very specific things that my brain chooses to remember extremely well. Don't ask me why. |
| Too many windows | When I'm on the computer, I like to have the minumum number of windows open on the desktop at any given point in time. When I'm done with a program, I exit it immediately. If there's an extraneous window open, I have to close it. This is why I hate pop up windows (yes, I'm aware that I have some pop up windows in this site). The worst is when a pop up comes up when you close a window. That's like saying, "Hahaha, and you thought you got rid of a window!" |
| Tic tac toe | When chatting on IM, I align my windows border to border. They are resized to similar sizes, and it works out that a nice 3x3 framework, like a tic tac toe board, forms when I'm talking to 9 people at the same time. |
| Pick eater | Opposite of what it says, I'm not a picky eater, but I'm a pick eater. When I eat my food, I pick at it, especially with my hands (don't worry, they are clean). I don't know why, but this is apparently the case. For example, when I eat a sandwhich, I eat it part by part, usually in halves. First I'll pick it up and eat what falls out (that's a pet peeve -- extraneous foodstuffs lying around on the plate). Then I open it up and eat the inside stuff, and then I eat the bread last. I also like to pick at salads (i.e. eat them by hand rather than by fork). Pizza... same thing. |
| Turn signal | If you're driving anywhere around me, please use your turn signal. It really bothers me when people don't use it when they're supposed to, and I incessantly curse at them. However, I'm not a maniac and don't suffer from road rage, so don't worry about me deliberately rear-ending you or pulling out a pistol or anything. |
| Open door | Another thing car-related. If you're a passenger in my car and the car is coming to a halt, please wait until I turn the engine off before opening your door. While I won't go nuts over it, it will throw me off-guard for a bit and on any given bad day might throw me in for a loop. |
