"if only soundtracks existed
behind the scenes of real life.." Music is an integral part of my life, and beautiful pieces can move me to the point of tears. The piano is one my few true passions that will be a part of me for the rest of my life. I've been playing since the age of five and took lessons through my first year at college. While I'm not as devoted as I used to be, I still love to perform and share my musical passion, and sometimes I even dream of tackling Piano Concerto No. 1 by Chopin, my favorite composer (who I "must have been in my past life" per my past piano instructor). I am also teaching myself the guitar, which has turned into a frequent hobby. I'm not super good yet, but I've tackled quite a few songs like Greenday's Time of Your Life, Extreme's More Than Words, Kansas' Dust in the Wind, Richard Marx's Now and Forever, and Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven. I'm definitely more of a fingerstyler than a strummer (hands are quite small). As far as listening to music, I'm always listening to something. I tune in to mostly all genres (except for country), dependent on mood. I'm really into rock and bands and give full appreciation to the beauty of soundtracks and instrumentals. I love going to concerts and live events, especially those of Guster, of whom I'm a die-hard fan (analogous to my fandom of basketball). I know all the lyrics to all the songs on all their CDs (considering how the only way I learn lyrics to songs is by listening to them, this tells you a lot about how much I listen to Guster). Most people haven't heard of them, so I suggest you start off by downloading my favorite song Demons. And if you can, I highly suggest going to one of their concerts - they are amazing live - and then you will see what I mean. |
