"timeless friendship through sisterhood."
alpha Kappa Delta Phi :.
In the fall of 2000, I rushed and pledged alpha Kappa Delta Phi, the first and only nationwide Asian American interest sorority, and became a member of UVA's alpha class. It was one of the most spontaneous, unexpected, and unpredictable decisions I've ever made in my life (WTF?! Ginny, in a SORORITY?!), but in the end it became one of the best. I've grown close to all my sisters here at UVA and have been able to meet countless others nationwide.
aKDPhi's emphasis is sisterhood, community service, leadership, scholarship, and Asian-American awareness. The UVA chapter has received many awards, including the Virginia Service Coalition's Best Service from a Sorority award (2001, 2002), the Greek council-wide Outstanding Philanthropy award (2002), and aKDPhi's National Philanthropy award (2002.
Here is list of the positions I've held in the house:
- Academics Chair
Spring 2001
- Vice President of Service
Fall 2001, Spring 2002
- Webmistress
Spring 2002, Fall 2002
- National Webmistress
Spring 2003
